High School Co-op Education Opportunities

Bloorview offers a variety of exciting and educational opportunities for co-op students that involve working directly with our clients.

Placements are available in the mornings, afternoons or full days.
Alternate day placements are strongly discouraged.

Co-op Placement Areas - September to June

Bloorview School

  • 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The Bloorview School provides programs for Bloorview’s clients, inpatients and day patients, from junior kindergarten to the Senior Division. This placement offers an opportunity to enjoy working with our clients in the School as part of a dynamic team that includes teachers, teaching assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists and volunteers.

Placements are with one of two groups of students: Inpatients and students in the Integrated Education and Therapy Program.

Inpatient students have complex medical needs requiring “Continuing Care.” These classes provide sensory stimulation with one-to-one attention provided to each child. Children and youth with complex medical needs benefit from our modified programs. Programs are individualized according to a child's abilities and needs, and may include:

  • Sensory stimulation activities
  • Enrichment programs
  • Intervenors for deaf-blind children
  • One-on-one assistance

The students in the Integrated Education and Therapy Program are from Junior Kindergarten to grade 1.

The Integrated Education and Therapy Program is a unique head start program that helps children from four to seven years of age prepare for successful entry into community schools. Integrated Education and Therapy kindergarten programs are based on early childhood development principles.

Nursery Schools

Bloorview Nursery Schools support children aged two to five years, with neurological and/or physical disabilities, including developmental delays, speech and language delays, and visual or auditory impairment.

Our nursery schools are designed to meet the individual needs of each preschool child, while encouraging children with physical disabilities and their non-disabled peers to play together.
