Family Resources: Emergency Preparedness Guide

The Emergency Preparedness Guide (PDF: 1.61 MB) is a resource made available by the Government of Ontario for the 1.5 million people with disabilities and special needs in Canada. The guide builds on important lessons learned during disasters like Hurricane Katrina.

The Emergency Preparedness Guide officially launched in May 2007 and was compiled by Emergency Management Ontario, and the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario, along with 20 stakeholder groups.

Valuable information concerning animal emergency preparedness is also included in this guide to help owners of service animals and/or pets prepare items in advance that may be needed during an emergency situation.
