Position Program/Service/Department
Application Specialist Information Systems

COMPETITION #: 07-024

STATUS: Permanent Part Time (0.7 FTE)

Key Responsibilities

  • After initial training on particular applications, responsible for day-to-day operations of clinical Meditech modules to ensure a consistent approach is followed
  • Specifically, serves as a primary contact for issues related to specific clinical modules, including using problem solving techniques to analyze and troubleshoot end user issues/problems related to the health care information systems (HCIS) applications;
  • Create and monitor the Help Desk tickets to resolve requests and provide timely follow up with customers
  • Design new menus/clinical system processes by utilizing previous clinical knowledge of health care systems, processes and family/patient needs
  • Maintain and update User database and dictionary tables
  • Provides on-going education to staff when updates to the system occur
  • Consults with the technical staff to solicit feedback on improved usage of the application
  • Provides training on HCIS systems and coordinates access set up to new employees
  • Prepares documentation for new and existing departmental system processes
  • Creation of and changes to NPR and other reports using HCIS data
  • Interacts with our external service providers and provides on going support to staff to facilitate timely resolution of all Meditech problems
  • Participates in interdepartmental meetings

Qualifications

  • College Diploma in health related field or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum of two experience in a Health Care setting, including experience with health care software and health care system implementation
  • Proficient computer knowledge, including MS Office programs is required
  • Ability to use Adult education concepts for planning training sessions for staff at all levels
  • Proven ability to work as a team member as well as work independently
  • Demonstrates ability to problem solve and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of building and maintaining customer relationships
  • Strong organization skills required
  • Computer knowledge of Meditech, HEAT, and SMS is considered an asset
  • Previous Meditech software experience preferred
