Position: Occupational Therapist

Salary: $29.64 - $35.27 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes assessment and intervention directed at the person, occupation and environment factors influencing occupational performance based on an understanding of the Canadian Guidelines for Client Centred Practice
- Supports and respects the client/family’s rights to make decisions based on their own values, beliefs and experiences
- Engages in evidence-based practice including but not limited to using outcomes measures
- Bases practice on established policies, procedures and evidences
- Interacts with members of the interdisciplinary team and community providers to ensure an integrated approach to service
- Maximizes client’s functions in the area of self-care, productivity and leisure
- Promotes and supports the physical, psychosocial and spiritual well being of clients and families
- Collaborates with the client/family to plan, implement and evaluate care
- Participates in quality management activities and supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment
- Provides education to clients, families, staff, students and where appropriate community professionals
- Provides assessment and treatment to clients with neurodevelopment conditions
- Remains current with professional literature
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Canadian Occupational Therapy program or successful completion of the Canadian Occupational Therapy examination process
- Maintains current certificate in Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Life Saving course (BCLS)
- Specialised clinical education an asset
- Current License with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Membership in the Canadian Occupational Therapy Association an asset
- Previous job related experience required
- Knowledge of and skills in assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with cerebral palsy, other related neurodevelopmental conditions, autism spectrum disorderspreferred
- Paediatric experience preferred
- Experience working in an interdisciplinary setting is preferred
- Demonstrates ability to effectively and efficiently manage fluctuating clinical responsibilities
- Demonstrated visionary thinking, leadership skills and systemic planning
- Demonstrates ability to work independently
