About Bloorview

Advisory Councils & Committees: Youth Advisory Council

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) has been an important part of Bloorview Kids Rehab for over the past ten years. The council’s members are youth between the ages of 16 – 29 who have received services at Bloorview Kids Rehab. With meetings every month from September through June, YAC provides a sounding board for staff, clients and parents to develop and evaluate Bloorview Kids Rehab programs and services. It also offers youth and young adults the opportunity to develop advocacy skills and be involved in helping to create possibilities for younger generations of Bloorview clients.

Some of the many projects that YAC has been involved with include the very successful Transitions Conferences for families and professionals held in Toronto; the implementation of the monthly Youth Drop-in dances for teens and young adults; advocating for their peers on a case-by-case basis; and, being part of the branding committee for Bloorview Kids Rehab. YAC also provided feedback on the new building throughout the development phase.

Youth Advisory Council meetings are held every third Saturday from September to June at 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. in room 2W 625.  Attendant services are available.
